North Carolina adopted the Uniform Premarital Agreement Act.  A Premarital Agreement should be discussed with your attorney and your intended well before your marriage and preferably before your engagement.  A Premarital Agreement may cover a variety of topics, including, but not limited to, the following: 

• Financial Disclosures to be given to your intended (or waiver of disclosure)
• Property division upon divorce or death
• Spousal Support or waiver of spousal support
• Estate planning
• Disposition of business at divorce

            Child custody and child support cannot be predetermined by a Premarital Agreement.
