If not settled, your family law case will be tried in District Court, generally by a Judge. If you disagree with the District Court’s ruling, you may be eligible to appeal, after final judgment, to the North Carolina Court of Appeals in Raleigh. Three Court of Appeal Judges will review the written Record of your case, Briefs will be filed by your attorney and opposing counsel, and one hour of oral argument may be allowed by invitation only.
After the Court of Appeals renders its decision, you may wish to discuss with us a further appeal to the North Carolina Supreme Court in Raleigh.
We will also defend an appeal when the other side pursues an appeal against you. You must respond to deadlines and file a Brief to protect your rights, even if you won at trial in District Court.
